MARK Ngwazi had a nightmarish experience at the much-hyped Sungura Fest when technical glitches marred his performance at Pamuzinda Highway Xscape on Saturday.
Being the closing act of the night, Ngwazi was given the honours to put the icing on the cake, but it didn’t turn out the way he wanted.
He could be heard complaining over the microphone as sound engineers let him down.
“Inga vamwe varidzawo wani, konini ndatadzei?” said the pint-sized singer.
Moments later, the technical glitches were rectified and he did his best to deliver a decent show.
Opening act, Senator Ticharewa, had a good day in the office along with Somandla Ndebele.
The Denda Brothers leader, who was playing in his neighbourhood, did not disappoint as he opted to churn out yesteryear hits such as Wakandidadira, Moyo Wekurera and Muzukuru Peter.
Not to be outdone was Peter Moyo.
Superstar Alick Macheso, who has just returned from an international tour, was his usual best.
He proved why he is the crowd’s favourite with a sleek selection of both old and new songs.
He hailed the fans, who turned up in numbers, for their loyalty.
Socialites Wanisayi “Mahwindo” Mutandwa and Domasi also graced the event along with music promoter, Blessing “BJ” Jeke.
Radio personality Skywalker, who was the emcee on the night along with Mabla 10, did well.
He won the hearts of many with his jokes and it was evident that he really knows his job.
Show promoter, Partson “Chipaz” Chimbodza, was a happy man after the show lived up to expectations.
“I can’t ask for more. It was a well-attended show considering that most parents are now focusing on back-to-school errands.
“We will continue holding similar shows to ensure that we give fans real value for their money,” he said.
