NicozDiamond raises US$23 000 for charity

In a statement NicozDiamond said the charity dinner held annually provides an opportunity to raise funds and support the underprivileged in the society.

“NicozDiamond has an important task in sustaining its fund-raising efforts to keep the services going in support of children with special needs, persons with disabilities, the frail and lonely elderly, poor but bright and intelligent children and female inmates,” read the statement.

The guest of honour at the Charity Winter Ball was Mr Charles Msipa while more than 30 companies contributed to the cause through the purchase of tables and donations in cash and kind.
“The resonant support from the business partners made at the 2011 Charity Winter Ball was a huge success and raised more than the targeted amount.

“In line with the company’s business philosophy; corporate social responsibility is one of the core values of NicozDiamond and over the last few years we have been active in supporting the less privileged in these trying times,” read the statement.

Last year’s proceeds were directed to several homes and schools which include Thembiso Children’s Home in Bulawayo, Mucheke Old People’s Home in Masvingo, Shirley Cripps Home in Murehwa and Tagwira Primary School in Chivhu.

NicozDiamond said it believes in a “hands on” approach when it comes to giving back to the community and the support is therefore aimed at empowering recipients to be able to supporting themselves in the future.
