NIGERIAN televangelist and philanthropist, Dr Chris Okafor, jetted into the country yesterday ahead of his three-day conference, which begins today, at Harare Gardens.
He was welcomed at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport by Economic Empowerment Group president, Mike Chimombe, who is hosting him, Prophet Jay Israel and businesswoman Zodwa Mkandla.
Dr Okafor, who is the leader and founder of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, has made a name for himself for changing the lives of less privileged people.
And, his visit to Harare, is a bit special for his followers who are set to interact with him during the conference.
Chimombe, who welcomed the charismatic preacher, said Dr Okafor was ready to meet locals.
“Dr Okafor has fallen in love with Zimbabwe owing to our hospitality.
“His three-day visit comes at a time when we are praying for peace and unity.
“We are looking forward to a great time with him during his visit to Zimbabwe,” he said.
The interdenominational gathering is set to attract people from Botswana, Zambia and Mozambique.
Top gospel artists – Mathias Mhere, Jonah Chivasa, Dorcas Moyo and Kuda Mutsvene – are set to perform at the event.
Dr Okafor’s visit is set to boost religious tourism as well as cementing the strong ties existing between Zimbabwe and Nigeria.
