Night out survival kit for ladies

AS women, there are just some things that are necessary to have when we’re out and about, carrying out the routines of our daily lives. Going to the club or on a night out is part of our daily lives. When attending night functions more preparation is taken into consideration compared to day events. Night outs can be memorable and something you look forward to but you will need a night out survival kit.

Before we jump straight to the survival kit, why do women go out to night functions? There are four reasons why women go to the nightclub:

To meet men. Most women will deny this but it’s true. I know couples that met at the club or a show and are still together. It doesn’t always happen but some do get lucky.

To have fun with friends. Some ladies do go for the sole purpose of having a great time with friends just to unwind after a long week, year or to get away from it all.

To see and be seen. Ever seen those girls that are just sitting in a dark corner in a club doing nothing but looking at people and texting all night long? It’s strange but some enjoy watching people they know or keeping up appearances in the social scene.

To dance and have fun with their boyfriend or date. It’s great hanging out with your beau and having fun like it’s your last.

Whatever your reasons may be for being out at night, you need a survival kit. Every woman should have the following before you leave home on a night out:

A handbag — bags always complete an outfit and add that sophisticated finish. You need to have a bag in order to keep your things safe, well sometimes to carry your own drinks.

Perfume — If you can get the travel size of your favourite perfume, nothing like it. Comes in handy to always keep you fresh.

There is nothing as turning off as a lady who is smelling of sweat. No matter how rocking your outfit is, it doesn’t make up for not smelling good. Do not bathe in cologne but just dab a bit on your neck, shoulder or wrist at intervals.

A wrist watch — It’s more than just an accessory. A watch will help you plan your night out better and keep the organising part of the evening simple. Using the clock on your phone is not always a good idea as you can easily lose it, if you keep removing it from your bag.

Lip gloss/lipstick — Between all the talking, drinking and dancing, your lips get very dry and dehydrated. Keep your gloss or lipstick always at arm’s length to make your lips look shiny and fresh the entire time. Don’t walk around looking like cracked cement after an earthquake. Keep that lip gloss poppin’ nobody wants to go lip to lip with sandpaper.

ID — Besides the obvious police-stopping reasons you’d need identification, you should also keep that ID close just in case you’re involved in an accident of some sort and are unable to communicate. This way, people can identify you and possibly connect with your loved ones quicker. So don’t leave home without it!

Hand sanitiser/hand wipes — Sometimes when we’re out, we’re cool with digesting a germ or two when we choose to forgo washing our hands. Other times . . . not so much. Nothing like that good sanitiser to remove all those germs, from greeting people to dropping stuff on the sticky floor and picking it up.

Gum/Mints — Don’t be the chick talking in people’s faces with stinky wine breath. After eating your braai meat. Pop a mint.

After a few glasses of whiskey. Pop in a piece of gum. Talking for long makes your breath stink, you have to have that breath in control.

Power bank — the worst that can happen on your night out is no transport and a flat phone battery. You may need to call a friend or a cab. Thanks to technology you can carry your power bank and charge your phone while it’s still in the bag.

Remember to charge the power bank before leaving home.

MONEY — every lady needs to have money. It’s not just for drinks. Even if drinks, meat, entrance fee and transport is covered still have your own money in case plans don’t pull through. Last thing you need is people disappointing you then you start being a stress for drinks and transport.

There will be good nights and there will be bad nights, but one thing remains the same: it will pretty much be the same thing every night you go. It will be the same mean bouncers/security guards, the same “wanna be” girls and “creepy” guys, the same blaring music, the same ridiculous prices and the same douche or train wreck looking to fight over something you probably didn’t even do. Always have your night out kit either way because women always want to look chic especially on a night out.
