Ninja president to showcase at summer festival gig

ZIMBABWE’S dancehall maestro Winky Dee will headline a star-studded concert dubbed the summer festival gig to be held at the Amphitheatre in Bulawayo on 21 December. Rising dancehall star Shinsoman, former Big Brother 2012 housemate Roki, local dance group The Divas and Gregory will all team up with the Ninja president in a grand build up to Christmas festivities in Bulawayo.

Show promoter John Kafuta said fans should look forward to a dazzling gig which would set the tone for a buzzing Christmas atmosphere around the city.

“Fans should come in their numbers and enjoy themselves. We have lined up different performers to cater for everyone. It will be a lively show and the artistes have promised to give a big Christmas present to their fans through sparkling performances,” he said.

Kafuta said they were still negotiating with other local groups to take part in this gala.
“We are busy finalising deals with artistes such as dance queen Sandra Ndebele and a host of other local musicians. This is a Bulawayo show and we want to have a larger number of Bulawayo musicians taking part in this extravaganza,” he said.

In an interview, Shinsoman’s manager Joe Machingura said the Waya Waya hit-maker has been waiting patiently to perform in Bulawayo and would use this opportunity to enhance his popularity in the city.

“It’s a pleasure to be performing with Winky, Roki and Sandra, these are people we have always looked up to. This will be the second time in Bulawayo and we want to start building our musical legacy beginning with this show,” he said.

Machingura said fans should look forward to a great performance from Shinso as he has matured in his musical ways.
“We have released a number of songs and there are a number of new tunes which fans will sample at the show. Fans should prepare to throw Mawaya Waya for us because we are coming to make them happy,” he said jokingly.

Winky and Shinsoman last performed in Bulawayo courtesy of National Science and Technology (Nust) students initiatives in October and November.
