NKAYI-BORN gospel artiste Knowledge Nkiwane has proved that one’s background does not determine their level of success.
His talent has given him much needed recognition as he has been nominated three times at this year’s Gauteng Gospel Music Awards which will be held on 9 December at the Market Theatre in Johannesburg.
Nkiwane, who released a 14-track album this year titled Uvukile u Lazaro, is nominated in the categories of Best Male Artiste, Best Gospel Video of the Year for the song Nganelisiwe and Song of the Year. He is keen on scooping all the awards judging from the love he has received from his fans who appreciate his ministry.
“I am happy to be nominated three times at this years’ GGMA. By God’s grace I know I will scoop the accolades because I believe my music touches many souls, and I have received much love from my fans that I am positive sure they will vote for me”, said Nkiwane.
The artiste who also performed at the recent Gwanda Gospel Festival sharing the stage with the Legendary Oliver Mtukudzi, South Africa’s Dumi Mkokstad, Bethusile, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Solly Mahlangu, to mention a few, has also praised local fans for supporting his music.
“My song Ingumlilo Lento has been on position one at Skyz Metro FM Gospel Ten at Ten show for the past three months. It shows that people appreciate my talent and ministry, such appreciation keeps me going as an artiste because people voting for my song is a sign that my music touches a lot of lives”, said Nkiwane.
The artiste who started his solo career in 2012 with three albums under his name, one of them Lento Ka Jehovah earning him an award for Best Album at the GGMA last year, has called upon music fanatics not to buy pirated music as the illegal business kills artistes who expect an outcome from their musical works.
“I call upon all local music fanatics to stop buying fake music which are sold on the streets. This kills hard working artistes who don’t get money for their efforts due to piracy, that is the reason why I sell my own music around town in my scania so that I get the outcome from music sales” said Nkiwane. -@Langamabena
