NKETA 2 Cricket Club are sitting on top of the Bulawayo Metropolitan Cricket Association (BMCA) second league two after winning their match against Champions Cricket Club by 110 runs.
With 16 points from six matches, Nketa posted a mammoth 167-7 in their 20 overs and went on to bowl out their opponents for just 57 runs to sit in the league’s pole position.
Out of their six matches played, they have won four while two of their matches yielded no results and are tied on points with second placed National University of Science and Technology (Nust).
Nust suffered a setback after losing their match against Bulawayo Athletic Club (BAC) 2 by 78 runs. BAC batting first, scored 158-9 in 20 overs and bowled out Nust for 80 in 16. 1 overs to hand them their second defeat of the season.
In other matches played, Amakhosi 2 Cricket Club edged Queens Sports Club 2 by six wickets after successfully chasing down the set target of 114. Queens scored 113-8 in 20 overs and Amakhosi chased down the target in 17.2 overs, finishing on 114-4.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Bulawayo won by 16 runs against Roosters after setting them a target of 132 for the win. ZRP were restricted to 131-9 in 20 overs and managed to limit their opponents to 115-7 in 20 overs.
The other match saw Gampu Lions edge Wholesale Beef Bulls by seven wickets. Wholesale Beef Bulls were bowled out for 81 in 18 overs and Lions chased down the target in 10. 2 overs finishing with 88-3.
Nketa, Nust and Amakhosi are all tied on 16 points and make the top three of the league and are followed by BAC on 15 points in fourth position. Gampu Lions in position five have 12 points and are followed by Queens Sports Club 2 on 11 points. Wholesale Beef Bulls are in position seven with seven points while Champions behind them have five. The bottom two is made up of ZRP and Roosters who have four and zero points respectively.
No first league matches were played over the weekend.
