ZIMBABWEAN strikers Kingstone Nkhatha of Absa Premiership leaders Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns’ Cuthbert Malajila were on target at the weekend, helping their clubs to wins.
Nkhatha’s goal saw Chiefs win 2-0 against Supersport who were at the weekend under Kaitano Tembo, a former Zimbabwe Warriors defender following the sacking of head coach Calvin Johnson last week.
Sundowns’ coach Pitso Mosimane was thrilled with the result and praised Malajila and Kudakwashe Mahachi’s great performances as his team won 2-0 against AmaZulu with Malajila scoring a brace.
Esrom Nyandoro, Khama Billiat, Nyasha Mushekwi and Method Mwanjali were not in the team.
Tapuwa Kapini and Carlington Nyadombo’s Absa Premiership side AmaZulu is languishing at the bottom of the table after five games. They have posted two draws.
Nyadombo and Kapini started in the game and both have captained the side.
In an interview after the match AmaZulu coach Craig Roslee said: “We started the game against league champions Mamelodi Sundowns on a higher note. To my surprise players gave a lot of respect to the champions and conceded mistakes that cost the team. There are few things that need to be rectified. Right now I’m not bothered about results. We will bounce back soon.” Kapini is still the team’s captain and Nyadombo his deputy.
