Nkomo lecture series postponed

Nust director of information and public relations Mr Felix Moyo told Chronicle yesterday that the organisers, the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Foundation, have given no reasons for the postponement.

“The public lecture series was postponed to a future date by the Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Foundation. We did not get reasons for the postponement. Our role as Nust was just to host and not organise,” said Mr Moyo.

More than 1 500 guests including academics, politicians and members of the public were expected to attend the event.

Vice-President Landa John Nkomo was supposed to give a welcome address while former Minister of Industry and Trade Dr Nkosana Moyo was to give the keynote address.

Professor Sabelo Gatsheni Ndlovu and Mr Joshua Nyoni were to lead the discussion.

The lecture series is meant to be an annual event held every 1 July, provided that it does not fall on a weekend.

Dr Nkomo died on 1 July 1999.
