South Africa amapiano chanteuse Nkosazana Daughter is suing MacG Podcast and Chill presenters for a whopping R13-million after they claimed she has had an “illicit affair” with Kgaogelo “Master KG” Moagi behind the back of her boyfriend and musician Sir Trill.
The controversial trio also asserted that the Jerusalem hitmaker, not Sir Trill, born Tumele Zwane, was her child’s father.
The revered songbird, whose real name is Nolwazi Nzama, filed the litigation papers in the South Africa Johannesburg High Court last week in which she claimed the staggering amount for defamation from the controversial podcasters MacGyver “MacG” Mukwevho, Solomzi “Sol” Phenduka and Duduzile Methula.
According to the documents we’ve seen, Nzama stated that in July, Mukwevho, Phenduka, and Methula — the first, second and third respondents respectively — claimed that she was conducting an “illicit affair” with Moagi.
“(They claimed) the plaintiff was rumoured to have been quarrelling with her partner, one Mr Tumelo Mzwake Zwane (‘Mr Zwane’) as a consequence of the illicit affair with Master KG.
“The minor child of the plaintiff is not born of her relationship with Zwane, but rather a minor child born of the illicit affair between the plaintiff and Master KG. Apart from the defamatory meaning of the claims as set out above, the statements carry the additional sting that the plaintiff is deceitful, promiscuous, unprincipled, untrustworthy, adulterous and a liar, and a person without a moral fibre or valuable principles, and who generally conducts herself in an unethical and/or unprofessional manner,” read the papers.
Nzama said the allegations that she was sleeping Moagi were false and designed to portray her as a woman of loose morals.
“The statements were intended and understood to mean that plaintiff is, inter alia, promiscuous and/or adulterous in stating that the plaintiff conducted an illicit affair with a colleague, one Master KG,” read the papers.
She added the trio’s wrongful and malicious allegations against her continue to harm her brand as they did not have evidence to support their claims.
“Additionally, statements infract against the rules of evidence, more particularly placing reliance on hearsay testimony. The plaintiff continues to suffer harm and injury to her personal repute. The plaintiff’s professional reputation and esteem are compromised and diminished.”
Nzama said she is a revered family woman and stays with her partner, who is equally respected by his colleagues and the community they live in, and such allegations that portrayed her as floozy, were not doing justice to their relationship.
Nzama said her lawyers wrote a letter to the podcasters demanding the retraction of their claims and an apology, but they threw a zap sign at them.
Wherefore Nzama is demanding a retraction from the three podcasters for the defamatory averments.
“An oral, televised and written apology issued by the first and/or second and/or third defendant to the plaintiff.
Payment by the first and/or second and/or third defendant, whether jointly; alternatively, whether jointly and severally (in which event the one paying, the other two to be absolved), of the aggregate amount of R13 000 000”, read the papers.
“The plaintiff is furthermore, a family lady, living with her partner and having one minor child . . . with him, and who is well respected by her colleagues and his community,” read the papers.
Meanwhile, The controversial podcaster MacGyver “MacG” Mukwevho has publicly apologised after asserting with confidence that Nkosazana Daughter’s child was actually Master KG’s and not Sir Trill’s.
On Monday, MacG apologised, saying that the musician’s brother had recently shown him a photo of her child, who resembles Sir Trill.
“We were wrong; she (the child) looks just like Sir Trill. So, I want to apologise to Nkosazana Daughter,” said MacG.
“Now it seems like I am saying sorry because of the lawsuit thing, and it is not. But allegedly, Sir Trill is not supporting the kid, and it is from a credible source.”
Sol Phenduka, who works with MacG, added: “I was told those allegations by my friends, and I had no idea that MacG would come and take it to the podcast.” (Sundayworld)
