Nkulumane trio nabbed for night burglary

THREE Bulawayo men appeared in court for allegedly breaking into a house in Nkulumane suburb and stealing blankets, a cellphone and US$50 cash.

Hlophani Siziba (35), Unity Moreleni (38) and Prince Chinhomba (35) all of Nkulumane suburb, appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Archie Wochiwunga facing unlawful entry and theft charges.

Siziba pleaded guilty to the charge, while his co-accused, Moreleni and Chinhomba, denied any involvement. The trio was remanded in custody to Friday pending further court proceedings.

Prosecuting, Ms Audrey Kufandikanwe told the court that on 21 July at around 11.45 PM, the accused persons allegedly went to the complainant Thandolwenkosi Ncube’s home in Nkulumane. They smashed her bedroom window panes and fished out a Samsung Galaxy A2 Core cellphone, a comforter blanket and US$50 in cash.

“The complainant was awakened by the noise caused when the accused broke her window. Upon investigations, she realised her belongings were missing,” said Ms Kufandikanwe.

A police report was made, leading to the trios’ arrest and subsequent recovery of the stolen blanket and cellphone.

The money was not recovered.
