BORDER Strikers Football Club who recently parted ways with Luke Masomere will not be looking for a high profile coach as a replacement, clubas secretary general Rodlet Chigwinya has said.

The Beitbridge side recently parted ways with veteran gaffer Masomere who later told our sister paper Chronicle that he has no intentions of coaching a Division One side following the expiry of his contract in November.

In response, Vavheneki as they are affectionately known said they had not renewed the self proclaimed MasomereasAAA contract because he failed to save the team from relegation after his appointment in September at the expense ofA Never Malunga.

a?Masomere did not fulfill the objectives we set for hit three months ago,a? said Chigwinya.

He added: a?We will be looking for coaches that are not popular this time around as big name coaches are more about their packages and not really the goals of the club. Unknown brands are ambitious as they want to build a name for themselves, so itas workable with them.a?

The secretary general further indicated they were talking to former Shabanie Mine and F.C Platinum U19 coach John Phiri who is now currently with the Midlands State University Football Team.

Phiri will be the fourth coach to manage Strikers in a space of two years if they get his services after Saul Chaminuka, Malunga and Masomere.

Asked about the poor season which saw them being relegated with a total of 15 points from 30 matches, Chigwinya said it was due to late preparations which they only started late in February before the beginning of the season in March.

a?We also played our first six games away from our fans as Dulivhadzimu Stadium had been deemed unfit for PSL matches, so we had to use Maglas Stadium in Shabanie.

We have learnt from our mistakes and our aim this time will be to start preparations as early as January and come back to the top-flight league,a? he said.
