MEMBERS of the former ZIFA executive were back in court yesterday and further remanded pending the provision of a trial date.
The postponement was made regardless of the order given to the State by magistrate Taurai, Manuwere, to give them a trial date.
Former ZIFA president, Felton Kamambo, appeared together with Philemon Machana, Stanley Chapeta, Joseph Mamutse and Bryton Malandule.
Through their lawyer, Admire Rubaya, they told the court they had begrudgingly accepted the postponement, but placed the State on notice to mount a fresh application, for refusal of further remand.
“We are begrudgingly acceding to the postponement.
“The State has been given several chances to put their house in order.
“They are taking this court for granted, the State can’t hold the accused persons to ransom indefinitely till they put their house in order,” said Rubaya.
They will be back in court on November 8.
Allegations are that on November 16 last year, the SRC suspended the entire executive committee for gross incompetence and misappropriation of the association’s funds.
They could no longer transact any business on behalf of ZIFA orally or in writing.
After the suspension, and during the period between January and 02 February 2, they wrote various letters using ZIFA letterheads suspending some ZIFA Assembly members.
This affected some clubs and caused prejudice to the good administration of ZIFA.
