No joy for ZimRights programme manager

(28), the Zimrights programme manager, Dorcas Shereni (42), Tanaka Chinaka (30) and Farai Bhani appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe, who ruled that there were no changed circumstances warranting the granting of bail to the quartet.

The four are accused of trying to discredit the country’s voters’ roll by manufacturing counterfeit copies of the certificate of registration as a voter. Through their lawyers Mr Trust Maanda, Mr Admire Rubaya and Mr Tavengwa Masara the four had made another bail application citing changed circumstances.

In his ruling Mr Mahwe said the matter was of national interest hence the State should be given time to investigate without impediments.

It is the State’s case that on May 31, Bhani registered himself as a voter at Dema Registrar-General’s Office and acquired a certificate of registration as a voter.
