THERE were no new national records broken at the 2020 National Swimming Championships that ended last Sunday in Bulawayo although swimmers managed to better their times.
Zimbabwe Swimming chairperson Tracey Doorman expressed delight with the performances of swimmers despite lack of new records, emphasising that several swimmers managed to come up with personal best times.
The championships were held at the City Pool from 8 to 12 December.
“Records are not always broken but that does not mean the swimmers did not do well as they managed to better their times showing improvement and a sign of good performances. Overall the championships went well, they were superbly organised and what is next is for the Cana team to prepare for the Zone 4 Championships scheduled for Botswana next month,” said Doorman.
While Harare Province won the overall points cup with a combined total score of 3 066, Matabeleland lifted the aggregate cup which is derived from dividing the number of points each team scored by the number of swimmers they have.
