No regrets for Wenger

LONDON. – Arsene Wenger has declared that he has “no regrets” about passing up the opportunity to re-sign Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas for Arsenal. The Gunners idol linked up with the Blues over the summer after being made surplus to requirements by new Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, but had been tipped to make a return tothe Emirates.

A clause inserted in Fabregas’ transfer to Barcelona allowed Arsenal “first-option” if he was ever listed for transfer, but Wenger rejected the chance to take the Spain international back as he looks to build his side round the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey.

Fabregas made his debut for Jose Mourinho’s side on Monday night at Burnley, helping himself to two assists and a man-of-the-match award.
The classy midfielder laid on a beautiful through-ball for Andre Schurrle to tuck away, a sight which must have hurt the Gunners faithful. – The Daily Express.
