ASPIRING Highlanders Football Club chairman Nodumo Nyathi has set his campaign rolling and on Friday was in Harare.
On Friday evening, Nyathi took his campaign to Raylton Sports Club in the capital, where he met the Highlanders Harare Supporters Chapter.
He is a former chairman of the South Africa Chapter.
The well-travelled Nyathi is vying for the Highlanders chairman’s post where Bulawayo businessman Eddison Dube and former chairman Kenneth Mhlophe have publicly declared that they want to unseat incumbent Johnfat Sibanda.
However, some Highlanders fans and members fear Nyathi might not have a full grip of the goings on at the club, if he is to run Bosso via remote control as he is based abroad.
But, Nyathi insisted on Friday that he will not relocate from South Africa and believes he can run Highlanders “from anywhere.”
Nyathi thinks the advent of technology now allows people to have virtual meetings.
“Besides, there is a full secretariat employed to do the day-to-day running of the club,” Nyathi said.
“We have a whole chief executive officer, a finance officer and a marketing officer. What are their roles? They are the ones who run the club while the chairman superintends.
“I am not going to relocate, that I will not lie to you. That is very clear.
“I am going to run Highlanders, the way I will. Whether I am in Harare, Beitbridge, Egoli or Esigodini,” added Nyathi.
