the chilly weather were given real value for their money when the songbird together with her band exhibited well choreographed moves.
Shoniwa, who was born in London to Zimbabwean parents, started her show with the song “I’m Jo’burg Bound” before belting out another hit “Hey Hey”.
The musician also performed the song “Iwe” which she penned in Shona.
The Noisettes exhibited their epic showmanship driven by the dazzling Shoniwa.
Earlier in the day, Shoniwa had promised fireworks.
“The force is going to be immense. I am actually getting butterflies right now as I’m talking to you,” she said and true to her word she sang her heart out.
With a career that has stretched over seven incredible years, Noisettes’ fizzy, witty mixture of all kinds of pop, given their own exotic twist, churned out chart smashes like “Never Forget You” and “Don’t Upset the Rhythm” while their unique command of the stage was a marvel.
The multi-talented, bass guitar-playing singer and songwriter’s style is unique in the fashion industry as well.
Her shows are always spiced with bespoke fashion creations that give an almost otherworldly dimension to the pint-sized artiste’s stage presence.
The group showed omnivorous musical appetite that consumes African music, jazz and new adventures in dance music to generate their own distinctive hybrid of soul music.
Shingai, whose versatile vocals have been compared to Debby Harry, Kate Bush, Billie Holiday and Diana Ross, is proud of her Zimbabwean heritage.
She was born in 1981 in London and grew up in south London. Shoniwa has a twin sister, television presenter Shorai Shoniwa.
She originally wanted to be an actress and for a while joined the Lost Vagueness crew as a burlesque performer, before she decided to venture into music.
