N’ombeyaora kicked off their ZIFA Northern Region Soccer League campaign with a convincing 4-0 win over PAM at the Heart Stadium on Friday.
Nesbert “Yabo” Saruchera’s charges dominated the match from the onset.
Ordain Sira scored the opening goal in the 39th minute, capitalising on a rebound from Tadiwa Huni’s shot that hit the post.
McClive Phiri extended N’ombeyaora’s lead just before half time, expertly tucking in a cross from Dinoleen Masukuta.
In the second half, PAM struggled to create clear-cut chances in the early stages after the break despite piling pressure, with Chirwa Denford’s effort blocked by Junior Meya, before Tapfuma Phiri’s header went off target two minutes later.
N’ombeyaora continued to pile on the pressure, extending their lead with Tadiwa Chibunyu scoring the third goal in the 65th minute after PAM goalkeeper Admire Shonga parried a shot in his way.
Lincoln Saramaya added a fourth for N’ombeyaora with a header in the 74th minute, completing a comprehensive 4-0 victory.
The win sets the tone for N’ombeyaora’s season, while PAM will look to regroup and bounce back in their next match.
“If you don’t apply yourself well in these games you will lose it with such margin. It’s part of the game we gave it our best,” said Vincent Nzombe PAM head coach.
He added:
“First half we played very well and in the second half maybe some of the players were fatigued.
“We had our own chances and we could not bury them but we will try in the next game,” said Nzombe.
N’ombeyaora coach Saruchera said he was elated to collect maximum points.
“I am happy we really wanted these three points.
“After scoring four goals we can’t cry though we could have scored more goals.
“We managed to assemble a very good squad and I don’t want to hide my intentions, we really need to go where the big boys are playing at the moment we need to be there,” said Saruchera.
