NORTON Town Council is constructing more classroom blocks and new schools in the town to address a shortage of learning facilities using internally generated funds.

Most schools in the town have introduced hot sitting due to limited classrooms.

Norton Town Council acting spokesperson, Mr Leeroy Kaponda, said the local authority recently completed two new classroom blocks at Norton Secondary School.

The blocks have since been opened to learners. The council is also working on completing a five-roomed caretaker’s house at the school. Builders and carpenters are left with plastering and fitting doors.

The council has contracted incarcerated artisans and labourers serving time at Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services facilities to assist it in its projects.
