A 29-year-old Norton man accused of a gruesome murder and mutilation has been granted US$100 bail by the High Court.
Pardon Jena, who faces charges of murder, appeared before High Court judge Justice Regis Dembure.
Represented by lawyers Panashe Mujawo and Mazvita Sibanda, Jena is set to appear in court on Wednesday for trial.
The prosecution alleges that on August 25, 2025, at around 2 am, Jena and the victim, Patrice Tinashe Chipaumire, left Seaways Bar in Norton together, reportedly heading home.
An argument reportedly ensued near Kufa Garage, during which Jena allegedly stabbed Chipaumire in the neck, before he collapsed.
According to the State, Jena then mutilated Chipaumire’s private parts and left cheek before fleeing the scene.
At around 6am, a passerby discovered Chipaumire’s lifeless body with a deep neck wound, missing private parts, and facial disfigurement.
The police was immediately notified, and they launched an investigation to track down the suspect.
Jena was arrested later that evening, at around 6pm, near Petrotrade Garage in Katanga, Norton.
