NORTON Town Council chairperson Councillor Action Mataruse said he is happy to learn of the challenges faced by stakeholders in terms of the council’s procurement system and with regard to water supply.
In an interview at the end of the Norton Town Council business engagement luncheon held at Pakare Paye Arts Centre in Norton on Tuesday, Clr Mataruse said council and the business community came together to discuss how Norton can establish its own water treatment plant .
“But I am happy that constructive contributions were raised; businesses were interested in return on investment in case they invest in massive projects,” he said.
“They were also interested in knowing how they can get the opportunity to supply goods and services in Norton.
“We should incorporate them in our system, especially on opportunities available in Norton. So there were a lot of concerns raised in this stakeholder engagement.”
Clr Mataruse said stakeholders also discussed the issue of speed humps at Vimbai High School to safeguard school children.
“We have businesses that also pledged to donate bins, to ensure a smart and cleaner environment,” he said.
“So I am happy to have met business people who can help build the Norton we all want.”
