A Norton town council delegation met the Harare Institute of Technology at their Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) stand in Bulawayo and discussed various Smart Solutions that Norton Town Council adopted in achieving its vision of a smart municipality by 2030.
Norton town council acting public relations officer, Mr Leeroy Kaponda, said the delegation comprised the town secretary, Mr Kizito Muhomba, council chairperson, Councillor Action Mataruse and the business development manager, Mr Kwaedza Batai, who met the Harare Institute of Technology. The HIT team comprised the Director of Artificial Intelligence, Dr Mugadza, Dean- School of Engineering and Technology, Dr Mapfumira, Director Technology Licensing and Transfer, Engineer Masiyazi, Engineer Maphosa (LADS) and Dr K.H Ruzvidzo from the department of Polymer Technology and Engineering.
“These discussions include partnership on the construction of the Norton Civic Centre (17.5 hectares set aside along Bulawayo Road), smart water meters, phased construction of the water treatment plant and upskilling the youth and other innovative partnerships,” he said.
