Nosy wife assaulted with electric cables

A MARANGE man allegedly flogged his wife with electric cables after she had asked him about where he had spent the day.Lovemore Muchinjiko (26), however, denied the charges of assaulting his wife when he appeared before Mutare magistrate, Mr Poterai Gwezhira last Thursday.

Mr Fletcher Karombe prosecuted.

Muchinjiko was remanded out of custody to December 23 for trial.

It was alleged that on November 23 and at around 10am, Muchinjiko left his wife at home going to an unknown destination. He came back at 10pm.

“The wife who was not pleased with Muchinjiko’s actions asked him to explain where he had spent the day. Muchinjiko assaulted her with electric cables.

“He assaulted her all over her body and she sustained bruises on the right leg and face, but was not medically examined,” said Mr Karombe.

By assaulting his wife, Muchinjiko contravened Section 4(1) as read with Section 3(1) (a) of the Domestic Violence Act, otherwise known as physical abuse.
