Notice craves to be ‘noticed’

Though he went through a lot of hardships, he says it taught him the most important lessons in life.
Notice is now using his hands to make a living. Notice, who is now based in Ngwenya village, a craft place north of Johannesburg, is creating beautiful works.
He makes beautiful and usable gift boxes, postcards and paper bags. It might look easy when the product is finished, but the making of these boxes requires passion and creativity.
“I started making boxes in 2009 after a long struggle trying to get a job. I have learnt to use my hands and creativity to earn a living,” he says.
He uses materials such as shift paper, boxes and glue to create these masterpieces. Notice says moving to Ngwenya village gave him an opportunity to reach a wider art market.
Like other immigrants he came to South Africa looking for a better life. But it was not easy for him to find a job.
“After struggling to get a job, I finally took my brother’s advice to use my own hands to earn a living. He taught me how to make boxes and paper bags. Now I am able to do four boxes a day.” – Sowetan.
