THREE notorious armed robbers who had been terrorising people in Midlands Province have been arrested in Masvingo, police have confirmed.

Masvingo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa said the trio was arrested in Masvingo on Thursday while on their way to Harare. He said Rainos Takawira (43), of Matara Village, Headman Musvuugwa, Chief Chivi, Tinashe Marimo (22) of Marimo Village, Chief Mashoningwa, Murehwa and Praise Gudhlanga were arrested at Masvingo Old Croco Bus Terminus. He said the trio was linked to six cases of robberies in Mvuma and Mberengwa.

“In the most recent attack in Mberengwa, our detectives got information that the armed robbers had sped off towards Masvingo in a Toyota Wish. At around 1pm, they spotted the vehicle and followed until it stopped at Old Croco. Marimo and Gudhlanga disembarked from the car and went on and boarded a Zupco bus that was heading to Harare. Takawira drove the car and parked it at an open space near Delta Beverages. He locked the car, dropped the keys on the ground and went on to look for lifts heading to Harare,” he said.
