THREE notorious Midlands machete-wielding gangsters who have been terrorising residents in and around Gokwe have been jailed for a total of 96 years for murder.
Tavonga Masenga, Raphael Putse and Kudakwashe Mapolisa were convicted by the High Court in Gokwe.

Masenga and Putse were each sentenced to 30 years in prison, while Mapolisa was sentenced to 36 years.

The accused persons were part of a gang that was terrorising Gokwe and Empress Mine residents.

Allegations are that on July 15, 2022, Mapolisa was driving in the company of his two accomplices and other members of the gang who are still at large when they saw someone who had allegedly assaulted one of them the previous day.

They all jumped out of the vehicle and charged towards the person.

The victim ran away but the gang chased and apprehended him. The accused persons took turns to assault him using stones, wooden logs and machetes before fleeing the scene.

A police report was made, leading to the arrest of the accused persons.
