Novice shottist reigns supreme

COURAGE Mudonzvo of Headquarters 5 Infantry Brigade tallied a record points tally of 400 as he shrugged stiff competition from over 600 other contestants to be crowned the 2017 Commander Zimbabwe National Army Skill at Arms shooting competition champion at Cleveland Rifle Range last Friday.

The 24-year-old, who also walked away with the Best Novice shottist award, needed to dig deep to pip Tinashe Mukoriro of Headquarters Presidential Guards and Brian Karimanzira of Parachute Regiment. The skilled marksman said he is ready for the forthcoming Presidential Medal Shoot.

“I am very happy with this milestone. I owe the achievement to my superiors and all my team members who helped me train and aim higher. It is a rare achievement in the life of a shottist and it feels good to realise how good I am especially after I had to contend with some of the best shottists in the country.”
