THE Northern Region Soccer League (NRSL) have commended the dedication of coaches in shaping the future of football, both on and off the pitch.
Speaking after a coaching workshop recently, NRSL Vice Chairman Sweeney Mushonga said coaches play a critical role in developing players’ skills and character.
“As a league, we are forever appreciative of the hard work and dedication that our coaches bring to the beautiful game,” Mushonga said.
“Their influence extends far beyond the pitch, they instil vital life skills like teamwork, discipline and perseverance in our players.”
The league-organised the workshop aimed at refreshing coaches’ knowledge and update them on recent changes to key FIFA laws.
Additionally, the session addressed best practices while discouraging outdated methods that hinder the growth of the sport.
Mushonga expressed delight at the high turnout.
“We are confident this course will positively impact our league, the coaches’ careers and most importantly, the players.”
The Workshop facilitator Mudzamiri said one of the key issues they addressed was delaying tactics.
“The coaches have learnt a lot of things, like the law changes particularly the issue of the goalkeeper. If a goalkeeper delays for eight seconds a corner kick is now awarded.”
He added: “This I am sure will see us not having delaying tactics employed by the goalkeeper as we used to see in the past. I am hoping that these coaches who have learnt here will go and impart the knowledge to their several teams for the purpose of building our football.”
The workshop also served as a networking platform, allowing coaches to exchange ideas and strengthen professional bonds.
