NRSL matches in forced break

BARELY three weeks after the restart of the ZIFA Northern Region Division One League second round, a two-week break has been imposed due to the country’s harmonised general elections.

Last weekend’s fixtures were not played.

The move came after league authorities’ concerns that some political elements were abusing football matches for campaigning.

“Please be advised that the league will take a forced break in view of the harmonised elections set for August 23. The break will be effective August 14, with Week 20 matches now scheduled to be played on the weekend of September 2/3,” reads the communiqué from league chairman, Martin Kweza.
