adminThe 450 workers are claiming that they have not been paid over the past eight months and that their lives are being endangered by poor working conditions. The protest began on Monday and though some trains have been moving, passengers expressed disappointment at the inconsistency.
Railway Association of Enginemen president Mr Norman Simba said there was no going back.
“We are not going back unless our grievances are addressed, management wants us to work as we negotiate but this wont happen. They have temporarily called back pensioners but it is more dangerous to call back someone who has not been working for ages, that’s putting people at risk,” he said.
He said management was showing an unwillingness to address the concerns.
