SCORES of passengers escaped unhurt when a Victoria Falls bound passenger train derailed in Hwange on Wednesday morning. National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) public relations manager Mr Fanuel Masikati confirmed the incident. “Yes our passenger train derailed at T.J. area in Hwange at 5.10am. The train was going to Victoria Falls from Bulawayo. No one was injured and there was no damage,” said Mr Masikati.

He said NRZ engineers attended the scene on time and returned the train on the rail.

“It was a minor derailment because the train did not lie on its side. Everything is intact. Our team quickly attended the problem and as we speak the train is back on the rail,” said Mr Masikati.
