ORGANISERS of the Mapopoma Festival have confirmed the hosting of the event this year and shared some of the acts who will be ushering party lovers into the New Year.
Show organiser Patrick “DJ Spevah” Musonza said following the resumption of hosting of shows, they are going ahead with the hosting of this year’s edition. It will be held at the Kingdom Hotel over two days, December 30 and 31.
Nutty O, Feli Nandi and Mzoe 7 are some of the artistes set to count down to the New Year with revellers.
Other artistes who have been announced thus far are locals, Muffia King, DJ CJay, DJ Snappy and DJ Conz with advance tickets already on sale.
DJ Spevah said for the Ubuntu Concert that will be held on New Year’s Eve, revellers will be expected to carry their national flags or wear traditional attire.
He said more artistes are yet to be unveiled adding that they are finalising their contracts.
Mapopoma Festival seeks to celebrate arts, culture and beauty of Victoria Falls through music and dance. It is one of the local events that have been cash cows for the tourism industry as hundreds of people travel from across the country to attend the event and tour Victoria Falls.
In 2019, the festival was held at Chinotimba Stadium as organisers wanted to take the event closer to the people.
Previously, it was held at Zambezi House along the Zambezi River and local fans complained about the location because of the distance from the city centre. — @ncubeleon
