WINKY D and Nutty O, who are basking in glory after their AFRIMA nominations, have expressed their opinions and expectations from the awards.
Winky D was nominated in the Best Male Artist in Southern Africa category and, together with Nutty O, in Best Artist, Duo or Group in African Reggae, Ragga or Dancehall category.
Unlike Nutty O, Winky D has won several awards internationally.
Nutty O will be looking forward to bagging his first international, accolade after he impressed with his last project, Mustard Seed album.
The projects, which got these two artists nominated for AFRIMAs are Happy Again and Handipere Power.
In an interview with H-Metro, Winky D said winning awards was not his main objective, but to speak the truth and spread positive messages, through music.
“For me, it’s never about winning but staying true.
“The recognition itself is already a big win.
“My main objective, when getting into the studio, is to be true to myself and say out the true narratives hoping that it gets the recognition and listenership it deserves.”
“It’s not money that really matters but speaking out the truth through music,” he said.
Nutty O was over the moon and would love to win in the category he was nominated in.
“It’s an honour getting nominated at this stage, at these kind of awards.
“Everyone likes to be among other big artists, it’s everyone’s dream, it means you are moving in the same frequency and light.
“I would be a fool if I say no, I want to win that category and more in my career,” he said.
