RUSAPE businesswoman, Ms Loveness Nyamundanda’s hard work, resilience and perseverance is finally bearing fruits as she is now being recognised as a businessperson of note and repute on the national radar.
The ambitious, yet humble Ms Nyamundanda was one of the winners during last Friday’s annual Mega Fast Business Awards held in Harare.
She scooped the second runner-up 2015 businesswoman of the year award, a feat that other businesswomen especially from small towns such as Rusape will never dream of.
Ms Nyamundanda (49) who has interests in fast foods, retail, hardware, nightclubs, hair salons and music promotions among others has previously won awards at provincial level such as Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce businesswoman of the year 2013 and entrepreneur of the year 2014.
Her business acumen has seen her rising from a mere cross-border trader to be one of Rusape’s single largest investor and employer. She has managed to stay afloat despite the harsh economic environment which has claimed the scalp of many businesses.
Ms Nyamundanda said her recent recognition means a lot to her as she shrugged of competition from other businesswomen who operates and runs companies with national footprints including those that are listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange.
She further urged fellow women not to hesitate to venture into business, saying they have a role to play in the national economy no matter where they are operating from.
“I am very delighted that I was recognised by Mega Fast and won the second runner-up award. I never anticipated that I will be among the winners because they were other deserving businesswomen from around the country who runs big companies and parastatals, but I was among the winners.
“This award inspires me to continue working hard so that our business stays afloat and also expand to other towns and cities.
“It is also a testimony that your location does not matter, but that you should continue to do good because one day your effort will be recognised.
“For one to be successful in business, you must be principled and hardworking. It is not a stroll in the park.
“There are many challenges in business, but for you to succeed you must take them head on and solve them. The moment you run away from them, then it will be the end of your business.
“Other women must not hesitate to start their own businesses. Businesses are not only reserved for men only, but all of us. You just have to be determined, focused and invest in an area you understand better,” said Ms Nyamundanda.
