NYANGA detectives last Saturday recovered a Toyota Hilux pick-up truck that had been stolen during the night in the resort village.

The vehicle, which belonged to Maxwell Makunike who resides in Rochdale, was found dumped approximately 5km along a dusty road linking Nyanga and Nyarumvurwe. Police confirmed the recovery of the vehicle and said the carjackers went to the Makunikes’ home during the night and gained entry through an unlocked gate. It is alleged that they forcibly opened the locked Toyota Hilux 2,4D truck and later hot-wired it before driving off.

Police said on June 27, Maxwell woke up around 6am only to discover that the truck had been stolen.

A report was made to the police investigations led by Detective Inspector Edgar Mupemhi led to the recovery of the vehicle around 11.30am on the same day.

Makunike was informed and he positively identified his car. Everything was intact.

The recovered vehicle is valued at $5 000.
