yesterday.
She died at the family home in Domboshava.
The funeral was attended by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, Deputy Prime Minister Thokozani Khupe, Youth Development, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment Minister Saviour Kasukuwere, several other Government ministers and senior government officials, relatives and friends.
A prayer service was held at the Makones’ home before the body was taken to Glen Forest Memorial Park for burial. Mr Tsvangirai described Nyarai as a unique and assertive girl.
“She was independent and I can tell you that she was very brilliant, unfortunately all that brilliance is gone,” he said.
PM Tsvangirai said Nyarai represented a new generation of Zimbabwean youths who were geared for success.
“With the way we are educating our children there have very high expectations. And so was Nyarai. The challenge we have as parents and as Zimbabweans is what are we providing for our children?” he said.
PM Tsvangirai urged parents to provide a positive influence for a bright future of children. DPM Khupe also described Nyarai as a brilliant, talented, skilled, and highly educated girl saying her passing on was a big loss.
According to a close relative, Nyarai, who spent most of her life in the United Kingdom, abused drugs and alcohol. She died while her parents were in Kenya where they were part of a delegation accompanying PM Tsvangirai.
