Nyasha Mushekwi on Zamalek’s radar

CAIRO. — Egyptian soccer giants Zamalek are interested in the services of Mamelodi Sundowns’ and Zimbabwean striker Nyasha Mushekwi to boost their attacking option.

Zamalek are trying to bring in a forward to add to the number of attackers in their fold after releasing two strikers including Abdoulaye Cisse ahead of next season.

Sources said that Zamalek talked with Sundowns and the South African side are ready to do business to allow the player to join the Egyptian club.

But Sundowns have asked Zamalek to put $700 000 on the negotiation table if they want the services of the Zimbabwean. The Egyptian club, it is understood, are ready to pay that fee.

The Zamalek board will wait to sound out the opinion of their head coach Jesualdo Ferreira on the prospect of signing Mushekwi once he returns with the team from Congo where they play AC Leopards in the Caf Confederation Cup.

The club chairman Mortada Mansour hinted last week that he is about to sign an African player who is on loan to a club in the Swedish league and is also one of the top scorers in that country.

The former CAPS United forward joined Djurgårdens this year and scored 11 goals, two less than the top scorer of the Swedish league. — Supersport.com
