FORMER Dynamos treasurer Victor “Adhazhi” Nyaumwe, who died on Saturday, will be laid to rest at Warren Hills Cemetery today .
Nyaumwe (55) died of pneumonia at the Avenues Clinic in Harare and is survived by his wife Maria, five children and three grandchildren.
The former Dynamos treasurer was influential when the team faced ownership crisis at the turn of the new millennium and managed to give it back to its founder members.
Nyaumwe and his close friend Phillip Mugadza ran Dynamos from 2000 to 2005.
In the Dynamos executive then, Nyaumwe worked with Simon Sachiti, who was the secretary-general, Mugadza (chairman), the late Phillip Magwaza (Public Relations Officer) and Ignatius Pamire (committee member).
Tendai Nyaumwe, the young brother to Victor, said the gap left by his elder brother is hard to fill as he brought their family together. “He had Dynamos at heart and was one of their ardent supporters who loved the sport so much and we are saddened by his sudden departure. Dynamos president Kenny Mubaiwa sent his condolence message to the Nyaumwe family and said the club’s former treasurer contributed a lot to the team.
