PUBLIC Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Dr Sekai Nzenza is set to headline the Employers Confederation of Zimbabwe (Emcoz) indaba where the bulk of members will have an opportunity to exchange ideas with her on how to navigate the current operating environment.
The breakfast meeting, which is scheduled for Harare next Monday February 18, is being organised by Emcoz. It will also be used as a platform by employers to share notes on how best to overcome the unpredictability of the operating environment, which is characterised by foreign currency shortages and fluctuating exchange rates on the parallel market.
At the end of the meeting, the employers would make recommendations to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development on the possible way forward.
Emcoz acting executive director Ezreck Hweru told The Herald Business last week that the meeting is critical as it will allow employers to share knowledge and experiences with Government representatives and proffer some solutions to the current challenges.
“Minister Nzenza has confirmed attendance at this important meeting,” said Mr Hweru.
“This is a breakfast meeting for employers to share knowledge and experiences on the current operating environment, and make some recommendations which would be taken to the Ministry of Finance.”
Mr Hweru said decision makers, leadership of employers’ associations and leadership of national employment councils, are expected to attend the key meeting.
He said the consultative meeting has “three distinct objectives”, which are, taking members through the “very complex business environment and find a way through for business”, discussing the state of the economy and introducing members to new Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Dr Nzenza, and “hear her vision for the ministry”.
Dr Nzenza will address participants and field questions at the end.
