THE role of sport in social development will be on display at Hillside Golf Club in Mutare when more than 100 golfers take to the course tomorrow (Saturday) in a tournament meant to assist Nzeve Deaf Centre’s operations.
Nzeve Deaf Centre is a Mutare-based non-profit organisation of deaf and hearing people that promotes the rights of children and youths with disabilities to meaningfully participate in society.
Nzeve works to reduce isolation, stigma and discrimination by promoting sign language and deaf culture of inclusiveness across all community structures.
Nzeve Deaf Centre board chairman, Caleb Kunze, said: “As part of fundraising efforts to support our work, we are excited to be holding the Nzeve Deaf Centre’s Golf Tournament on Saturday (tomorrow) at Hillside Sports Club in Mutare. This tournament promises to be a thrilling event as up to 120 golfers have confirmed their participation.
“I would like to extend a personal invitation to companies around to participate in our event as it offers marketing exposure, while supporting Nzeve’s work.”
He said there are two options through which companies can be involved in supporting the noble cause, either through exhibiting their business at one of the golf holes or playing.
Each hole depending on visibility has a different price point.
Holes one, nine, 10 and 18 will attract a cost of US$600, while holes 13, 14 and 15 cost US$400 All the remaining holes cost US$200
Kunze said: “As an exhibitor or a sponsor of the event, participating companies will be recognised in a number of ways. We will prominently display companies logo on our social media platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. This will give companies valuable exposure to a wide range of potential customers, while also helping a great cause.
“We understand that every business has different needs and resources, so we welcome donations of any size. Whether one can contribute a small amount or a larger donation, every little bit helps to make a difference.
“All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting Nzeve’s projects in the community, so one can be confident that their contribution will be put to good use.”
Meanwhile, Jaiden Maringire emerged the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Commander Manicaland Chapter Golf Tournament winner with 37 points, while Evan Botha settled for second position after amassing 35 points.
Simon Ballance weighed on third position after collecting 35 points, while Peter Valentine also had 35 points, but was counted out to fourth position.
Veteran Hillside Golf Club player, Martin Nyaundi came fifth with 34 points.
