Some 680 Ordinary Level candidates from nine centres in Midlands whose results were withheld after two papers leaked are in quandary as they cannot progress to the next level without the results.
Some of the affected pupils wanted to progress to Advanced Level while others wanted to apply for the March intake at various institutions.
The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council is still investigating the case, leaving the pupils and their guardians in a sticky situation.
The centres whose results were withdrawn are Marathon Academy, Mbizo, Manunure, Amaveni, Globe and Phoenix, Kwekwe, Mambo, Zesa Munyati and Chituripasi secondary schools.
The papers alleged to have leaked are Geography Paper 2 and Integrated Science Paper 2.
A school head at Njeremoto Secondary in Zhombe and five teachers from different schools in Kwekwe urban and Gweru were arrested over the issue.
Zimsec acting public relations manager Mrs Tryfine Dzvukutu yesterday said the examination body could not influence the investigations which were criminal in nature. “Examination fraud is a scourge that threatens the hard won credibility of our education system and the international recognition of our sought-after certificates,” she said.
“Investigations have to be painstakingly thorough to ensure that fraudulently obtained results do not go onto the job market or help someone to go for A-Level.”
