The Government has given 36 junior parliamentarians and traditional leaders from Mashonaland West Province tablets as part of the promises that President Mnangagwa made at the 32nd Junior Parliamentary Session.
The excited junior parliamentarians hailed President Mnangagwa for fulfilling his promise to improve and advance access to technology among youth leaders.
Junior Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Stacy Mapfuti from Zvimba said the tablets were a pleasant surprise.
“When the President spoke about it at the 32nd Junior Parliamentary Session, we just thought he was saying it to make us happy, but today he (President Mnangagwa) has fulfilled his promise,” said Junior Minister Mapfuti.
Handing over the 36 Nokia tablets, Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo said technology has a crucial role to play in improving education, health and livelihoods.
“The internet opens doors to information that was once accessible only to a few. Young people today can learn from experts, collaborate with peers globally, and share their stories with the world-all with just a few clicks,” she said.
“By leveraging digital tools, you can create solutions that are sustainable and impactful. Ladies and gentlemen, let us focus on education and training programmes that enhance digital literacy, entrepreneurship and critical thinking.”
Minister Chombo implored the junior parliamentarians to harness the power of technology for good and be involved in the communities and transform clicks into tangible progress.
