TIRED of taking care of a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League strikeras baby, a a?desperatea mother is taking the drastic measure of giving up her son to an orphanage.
The mother at the centre of the controversy is a Kenyan woman Esther Mwaka (ABOVE), who two years ago claimed Chicken Inn striker Obadiah Tarumbwa fathered a baby boy with her.
At that time Tarumbwa was playing in the Kenyan Premier League for local giants Sofopaka before moving to Absa Premiership outfit University of Pretoria.
In a shocking move, Mwaka took to social media platform Facebook announcing to the world that she is giving up her son for adoption.
a?Today I took a big step in my life (sic) my son will be part of a childrenas home. May the lord guide you, I am sorry I canat take care of ua?
a?Isnat it better for a child to go somewhere people will care for him instead of dumping him on the streets or worse even kill him … I have my better reasons and as a mother always knows whatas best for a child,a? she posted.
Then began the barrage of criticism from her Facebook friends who could not fathom the idea of a mother giving up her child for adoption.
One of her friends Ziggy Zaw SuB-king was quick to respond.
a?U donat need to do all that, time is ticking itas high time you settle down, I can help u get a job so that u can support the innocent soul, I know you have been through a lot mama just be strong and change your lifestyle and be a loving mum. God will open more ways for you and your kid,a? she commented.
At the time the baby was born, Mwaka claimed the former Highlanders striker denied responsibility for the toddler.
B-MetroA tracked Mwaka in Kenya and she was evasive on the issue.
a?I donat want to talk about my son or the father. What is happening now is taking a toll on me psychologically but what you have to understand is that I love my son,a? she said.
Asked if she would go ahead with plans to give up the toddler for adoption Mwaka said that was a decision she would make herself.
Tarumbwa was equally coy when contacted for comment.
a?When this story was first written two years ago I made it clear that the baby is not mine. I have no idea what you are talking about. How did you guys even know about all that adoption stuff or get into contact with that woman?a? asked Tarumbwa.
The player said he was concentrating on his career and did not need distractions especially to do with a child he knew nothing about.
