Ann Ruthenburg Fashion & Beauty
HI there everyone, Wooooooooo I am loving this season with all the weddings and parties I get to attend. Dressing up and looking good is what I look forward to. Having said that even in winter I found there was one thing I knew I could wear that would make me look good . . . Boots . . . yes a good stylish pair of boots is what every woman needs in her wardrobe. I know it’s late in the season with summer here and all, but I thought it’s never too late to talk about boots. So here we go hope you enjoy…..
The Stacked Bootie
Every woman absolutely needs a pair of stacked booties in her closet. These are boots that fall just below or just above the ankles no higher. They are also high heeled. Whether it is black or brown, these are best in staple colours so you can wear them with just about any outfit in summer and in winter. Make sure to invest in a pair with a solid, thick heel – the more comfortable they are, the better because you want to be able to wear them out and about for hours on end.
The Moto Boot
For casual but still stylish everyday wear, nothing beats a good moto boot. These boots look like military style boots, they sit below the calf and are flat, usually with lace or some form of military design in the front. These are perfect for tromping around town when you have a ton of errands to run in a short amount of time. Invest in a quality pair—good leather, a solid sole.
The Dressy Bootie
This is a dressy, dainty bootie that’s not made for walking. I bought a pair the other day; 6 inch heel and all lace, but I could not walk two metres with them. They are gorgeous but uncomfortable for walking. These shoe/boots are for special occasions when you won’t be walking that much: a nice dinner or a drinks date. These can be mistaken for shoes with laces, but in reality they come under the boot family. This is the boot that will allow you creative freedom – you’re liberated to go with wild colors, fancy embellishments, open toes, skinny stilettos, or whatever your heart desires.
The Girly Stiletto
Another type of must-have boot is the Girly Stiletto. A bit more conservative than the Dressy Bootie, the Girly Stiletto is a boot in a classic color (again, black and brown rule) with a super-skinny stiletto that transforms a stocky boot into something more feminine. The current Girly Stiletto has an 8 inch heel, so good luck to those of you who are daring enough to buy a pair.
The Riding Boot
For our purposes, the Riding Boot can be defined as any boot that hits at the knee or higher. With few exceptions, you probably don’t want these in your closet to actually go hop on a horse, so the heel height is totally up to you. I love them with a 1-inch stacked heel (think more classic riding boot) or with a higher stiletto. I bought a pair of thigh highs which are and inch or two higher than real riding boots. Oh how convenient especially when I wear short skirts and even shorts. These are best in a shade of brown, like cognac or taupe.
The Pop of Colour
You absolutely must have a coloured boot in your wardrobe.
Precisely what colour is up to you and what blows your proverbial skirt up, but you need something that will up the “wow” factor of your outfit instantly. Unlike the Dressy Bootie, these can be a bit more utilitarian – they can be flat, have a stacked heel, or anything in between. Just make sure they pop. So I got myself a black elastic platform peep toe boot, with a neon green heel.
Yoooooo just want to say with the right outfit girls . . . colour boots look great.
Tip of the week
Boots are not just for winter, there are summer boots too. So do not be afraid to buy a pair of leather boots which you can make use of even in Summer.
