AN alleged sex tape involving a minor is at the centre of a storm that threatens to tear apart Zimbabwe international Mitchell Katsvairoas career at South African giants Kaizer Chiefs with revelations the club was contemplating shipping him out.
Katsvairo has not enjoyed game time at Chiefs with only a handful of matches to his name so far in the 2016/17 season.
His camp claims the lack of game time is due to an injury and that the playeras striking partners are in top form hence he has fallen down the pecking order.
But according to a well placed source, the player invited the ire of the club with his off-field antics.
The club has been hoping he would change his wayward behaviour but it is the emergence of an alleged sex tape involving an underage girl that has left Amakhosi with no option but loan him to a Tanzanian club.
a?Disciplinary issues are going to definitely cost Katsvairo a place at Kaizer Chiefs. He was recently involved in a sex tape with a minor, a development that angered many officials in the team. The club is actually organising a deal for him to go to an unnamed club in Tanzania,a? said the source.
Katsvairo is not new to off the field controversies. During his days at FC Platinum he was shown the door after club officials were not impressed by his love for the bottle and the fairer sex.
Kaizer Chiefs corporate communications manager Alpheus Vina Maphosa said he was hearing the sex tape allegations for the first time.
a?At the moment I have nothing on my desk to that effect. We will investigate and please feel free to call me anytime.
Maybe it has been carried in social media but nothing formal has come to the club,a? he told B Metro Sport on Wednesday.
If Kaizer Chiefs do happen to part ways with the former Chicken Inn player the vacant slot could be filled by another Zimbabwean forward KudakwasheA Mahachi who the club is reportedly chasing from fellow Absa Premiership side Golden Arrows.
The quick and lethal finisher, who could not be reached for a comment,A joined Amakhosi in the July 2016 transfer window period together with fellow countryman Edmore Chirambadare who has gone on to impress at the Steve Komphela-mentored Soweto giants.
