A 23-year-old officer cadet from the Zimbabwe Military Academy in Gweru got an early Christmas present when she won $10 000 in the Edgars Shop and Win promotion. The promotion coincided with the opening of a new and rebranded Edgars Gweru branch last Friday.

The officer cadet, Ms Curen Makisi, could not believe her fortune as she shed tears when she was presented with the prize by Edgars Group marketing executive Ms Rumbidza Dzimba. Ms Makisi said she was overwhelmed with joy to win so big.

“I am very happy, and l would like to thank Edgars for this wonderful prize. I will spoil my family this festive season and will invest the balance,” she said.

Ms Dzimba said the company was happy to give back to the community as part of its corporate social responsibility programme.

“As an organisation, we have a duty to give back to the community as part of our corporate social responsibility. As an essential service provider, we feel that we need to plough back into the community, including our customers who always support us,” she said.

Ms Dzimba said the group would be organising annual draws for its customers.

“We want to make the next promotional draw even bigger and better. We believe in supporting each other as we believe in our clients who always support us through thick and thin,” she said.
