Newa died after a short illness at Mpilo Central Hospital on Monday and was buried at West Park Cemetery yesterday.

He also said Newa’s death had left the family in grief as he was a pillar of strength.

“O’Jays had been ill for about a month but he had given us hope that he was getting well. During that time, he was in and out of hospital and a week before he died, he was admitted to Mpilo Central Hospital.

“We are in a lot of pain as friends and family because we have lost a pillar of strength, someone we could rely on during challenging times,” said the friend.

Newa was born in  Bulawayo in 1968 and grew up in Mzilikazi. He is survived by three daughters and a son.
