OLD Georgians Sports Club coach Grant Mitchell is confident his team will get a win over Bulawayo giants Busters in the semi-finals of the National Rugby League this Saturday.
Mitchell yesterday told The Herald that his side would be “failures to think otherwise” as his side is well prepared. “Our preparations as a squad have been going according to plan. As a coach, I am exceptionally fortunate to have a very dedicated squad of players that have continued to train and prepare themselves for the final part of the season.
“This has made my job a lot easier,” said the former Zimbabwe Rugby Union general manager.

Mitchell added that overall fitness of the squad has improved from last season and they are in good standing.
Despite the fact that the league games have not been played for the last three months due to lack of funding, the Old Georgians gaffer feels his side has been doing enough during the break to maintain their fitness.

“The squad has accepted the individual responsibility of partaking in strength and conditioning work over and above their weekly field sessions, we have continued with training in this prolonged break so as a coach and as a squad we are in a good space.

“This has minimised injuries through the season and provide a lot of the players with platforms for strength, power and general rugby conditioning progressions.
“It is always encouraging to see the players improve from season to season.”

Old Georgians thrashed Harare Sports Club 62-10 in a friendly match three weeks ago.
“Although this was classified as a friendly, it was by no means treated as a friendly as the squad was fully immersed in preparations.

“The score line was a big one, but the most impressive thing from OGs perspective was the way in which the team played technically even though matches have been few and far between.

“There was great team cohesion and their ability to trust what they do in training showed out on the paddock,” Mitchell said.
However, Dragons and former Zimbabwe Under-20 winger Kudakwashe Chiwanza is recovering from an ankle injury, but Mitchell feels he will be ready for the epic clash.
