But, over the last four seasons, dominance has shifted to the Groombridge-based club where the likes of Fortune Chipendu, Jacques Leitao, Grant Mitchell and Justin Coles have risen to represent the nation.
And, over the weekend, the Mitchell-coached side cemented their place as the best Sevens club in the land with a 24-17 win over their bitter rivals who had won two rugby titles this year.
Sibanda was aiming to scoop everything on offer with Sports Club first winning the Metro Challenge Cup without losing a game, before lifting the League Cup three weeks ago.
“No I dont think Old Georgians deserved to win the title,” said Sibanda. We made two errors in the first half and they scored and eventually they won the game.
“We were tied on points on the log standings but it went down to points difference and  OGs had a better points difference.”
Sibanda, who is also the Harare Sports Club women’s coach, was left a bitter man after his side was denied a penalty try in a clear scoring position.
“The ladies’ game, which also came down to points difference, was worse, as we were denied a clear penalty try after a high tackle on the opposition five-yard line when we were about to score,” said Sibanda.
“But it has a been a sweet season for us because we have the Challenge Cup and League Cup.
“It will be good to remember we lost the Sevens championship having held on to it for quite a long time.
“I’m very happy about our achievements this year, we’ve only lost two games in all competitions, including Sevens, that’s a great achievement.
“Our policy of grooming future coaches for the club is also paying off.”
